Mediation explained

How long does it take?

Mediation is always much quicker than contested Court proceedings and generally quicker than negotiations through solicitors. The timing and speed of mediation is in the hands of the parties who agree with the mediator how often and at what intervals they are going to meet. Family mediations generally take between two and six sessions of an hour and a half. Other mediations can be dealt with at a single session, or in a series of shorter meetings over a period of days or weeks.

Your mediator will be happy to discuss the probable length of a mediation at the start of the process.
